I have ridden the Wine Country Century quite a few times and signed up to ride the full century in 2024, when I was 90 years old, to celebrate the ride’s 50th anniversary. However, the heavy morning rain that day deterred me from participating. I signed up again last year for the 100-mile route when I was 91. I rode with my Peruvian “granddaughter,” Xiomara Jumpa Carhuamaca, and another good friend. It was Xiomara’s first century and the weather and we did fine. We started early and finished the 2025 century in 9:02 riding time, 9:48 elapsed time. I was on my recumbent trike (not an e-bike) and Xiomara was on her road bike. Great route, great volunteers, great rest stops.

Xiomara and I have signed up for the century again for 2026. We look forward to it - and hope the weather cooperates. Here are some photos from 2025.
