In 2014 I sent this email out to my closest women friends…
Regarding the Wine Country Century…this event sold out in 12 hours last year (2013). I heard from a friend that it is well organized event with great food and the 100k route is lovely. You can check the route out on their website. We did parts of it on my 50th birthday weekend. Some of our favorite Sonoma County roads. You can register here (2014 web address).
Anyways, I plan on signing up and would love it if anyone wanted to join me. We could make a weekend of it.
Cheers,
Kathy
I’ve ridden the WCC since then, when my girlfriends all joined for a girls' weekend. Along the way we included our spouses, although that year the spouses joined us for the shorter ride. We are now back for the Metric Century the past couple years. In the original days we hotel'd it, yet now some of us have camping vans so we stay at Spring Lake, gathering other friends from our local cycling club. In addition to riding we enjoy wine tasting, meals together, campfire stories, and board games.
It’s always a wonderful weekend with friends and, as I first mentioned to friends, the scenery is worth the effort and the support and post ride events are epic.
