Ride Details

No matter which route you choose, you're in for a fabulous day of cycling the Sonoma County back roads.

The Wine Country Century cycling event is back for the 50th year. We've planned another wonderful day of cycling in the beautiful vineyards and back roads of Sonoma County. Whether you want a relaxing 34 mile jaunt or a challenging 100 miler, we've got you covered. No matter which route you choose we'll take care of you along the way with SAG support and fully stocked rest stops. Best of all you get to feast on some great food and beverage choices after rolling into the LBC after your ride.

So grab your Road Bike, Mountain Bike, Gravel Bike, Fat Tire, Hybrid, Cruiser, E-Bike (Class 1 or 3 only), Tandem, or Recumbent, and join in the fun!
Please note: Registrations are PER RIDER so Captain and Stoker both need to register when riding Tandem.

Rules of the road

  • Obey the laws of the California Vehicle Code (CVC). This is not a race! Roads are not closed for the ride. The routes typically traverse lightly-traveled backroads, although you will encounter vehicular traffic. Riders are required to obey all traffic laws and can be expelled from the ride for violating the rules.
  • Wear a properly-fitting, CPSC-approved helmet at all times during the ride.
  • Earbuds and headphones are prohibited while riding on the routes.
  • Ride single-file. If you must ride double at times, be vigilant for overtaking vehicles (including faster cyclists) and single up promptly.
  • Pull off the road and stop for all emergency vehicles.
  • Bring a bicycle that is in safe working condition and fits you properly.
  • Carry a pump (compatible with your valves), water, and a properly sized spare tube.
  • Always carry ID and emergency phone numbers for yourself. Best practice: List your medical insurance carrier and your blood type.
  • Be courteous and friendly with all cyclists, motorists, and residents that you encounter. They are our neighbors and we want them to maintain a positive view of our event. You may only visit here once or twice a year, but the residents along our route have cyclists passing their homes and farms and wineries every day. Be a good ambassador for cycling when you ride here. Our use of this route in the future may depend on your good cycling behavior now.

Types of Bikes

Any of the following are allowed:

  • Any pedaled bike such as Road, Mountain, Gravel, Hybrid, Trike, Recumbent, Tandem or Multiple, Cruiser
  • Pedal assisted Class 1 or Class 3 E-bikes
  • NOT PERMITTED - Class 2 E-bikes which do not require pedaling

Bike Rentals

If you need a bike to ride the WCC here are some options we have confirmed. NOTE: These are in alphabetical order and type of bike availability is varied:

Follow the routes

There are several ways to make sure you stay on your route:

  • You can get a route map and cue sheet at check-in.
  • The routes are marked by colored arrows on the pavement and by directional signs on the shoulder. There will be course hosts at turns you might otherwise miss.
  • RideWithGPS routes for your bike computer are available online.
  • You can follow other riders on the same route!

Best practice recommendations

  • It is your responsibility to bring a bicycle that is in safe working condition and fits you properly.
  • Carry a pump (compatible with your valves), a minimum of one water bottle (we suggest two), a tire patch kit, and a properly sized spare tube.
  • Always carry ID and emergency phone numbers for yourself. It makes good sense to also list your medical insurance carrier and your blood type.
  • Please be courteous and friendly with all motorists and residents that you encounter. They are our neighbors and we want to maintain a positive view of our event. You may only visit here once or twice a year, but the residents along our route have cyclists – in large groups and small – passing their homes and farms and wineries every day. You can help us preserve friendly relations with our neighbors by being a good ambassador for cycling when you ride here. Our use of this route in the future may depend on your good cycling behavior now. Thank you for your consideration!

  • Multiple SAG vehicles, equipped with radios, will be circling the routes to help and pick up riders who cannot continue
  • Each route will pass multiple Rest Stops, typically less than 20 miles apart, fully stocked with nutritious snacks and beverages, with a bike mechanic at each one
  • Course Hosts at each Rest Stop will be there to greet you and offer any help or support needed

Drop bags

You may drop extra clothing or material at one of the first two rest stops. Your “drop bag” will be labeled and shuttled back to the Start/Finish for you to pick up there. Please do not leave the venue without your property!
